This musical journey illustrates the trade route from China to Venice. This historical trade route gave people the chance to exchange ideas, goods, and religious beliefs; countless artistic influences were transmitted. Lebanon was at the very heart of this journey.  More than 70 musicians, singers and dancers  from Lebanon and the world will share the stage; Rafik Ali Ahmad, Abir Nehmé, Charbel Rouhana, Mohammed Motamedi , Sima Dance Company, Indian Dance troupe Gheir,  , Ensemble Venice to name just a few.

Loubnan Baalbaki will be conducting the Lebanese Philharmonic Orchestra

Dee Dee Bridgewater & Ramsey Lewis
July 17

The American jazz diva Dee Dee Bridgewater is accompanied by the legendary American jazz composer, and pianist; Ramsey Lewis, who has recorded over 80 albums and has received seven gold records and three Grammy Awards.  Dee Dee’s talent is widely recognized as a singer, songwriter and stage actress winning her several Grammy and Tony awards.

Jazz at its best!

A night to remember

 

With Kinan Azmeh and the Ensemble Al Hiwar for modern experimental music, Ibrahim Keivo in his colorful folkloric music as well as Rasha Rizk in a classical Arabic repertoire.

This concert voices the rich musical universe of Syria in all its diversity from the rhythms of the Rif in the North with Assyrian, Kurdish and Armenian melodies till the urban music of the big cities such as Damascus, Aleppo, Homs and Hama leading to modern-day tempo.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ballet Preljocaj, Les Nuits
August 1st

Inspired by the magic of the One Thousand and One night, the ballet Les Nuits is a flamboyant interpretation of the Orient with all its mysteries. Choreographer Angelin Preljocaj draws his inspiration from this mythical text that fascinated generations throughout the centuries, translating the enchanting stories of Scheherazade into sensual arabesques! Costumes are by Azzedine Alaïa.

 

Patricia Kaas in “Kaas chante Piaf”
August 10

Patricia Kaas celebrates Edith Piaf in a world tour singing the great Piaf’s iconic titles. With Kaas’ distinctive and smoky voice, an innovative stage design, this superb show includes videos and never seen images of Piaf, one of France's greatest stars of all time.

Only Kaas can sing Piaf!!

1)      A tribute to Maroun Baghdadi in collaboration with Nadi Likol Nas & Fondation Liban Cinema

Baghdadi was known for his vivid portrayal of Lebanon's civil war. He is the best-known Lebanese filmmaker of his generation. He worked with American producer/director Francis Coppola and made several films in French that were acclaimed worldwide. In 1991, he won the Jury Prize at Cannes Film Festival for Out of Life (Hors La Vie).

Baghdadi passed away 20 years ago.

2)      Anashar Basbous, Sculptures in collaboration with Art Lounge Beiteddine (Silk Factory)

From Rachana, the open-air sculpture village, to the magnanerie and palace of Beiteddine, Anashar Basbous presents his stone, wood and metal structures. “My forms pierce space like big astral machines caught in a perpetual dialogue with the sun. Using a play of shadows, the eternal star creates their movements”
